Welkom op ons reisblog!
8 mei 2019 - Reeuwijk-Brug, Nederland
Hallo allemaal,
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello Everybody,
As some of you know, we will go to Scotland in June and then drive the North Coast 500 route. This in honor of our 12.5 years of marriage on June 15 (this is something that is 'officially' celebrated in The Netherlands).
If that is not fun enough, I accidentally (yes really!) came across Shetland wool with the name 'North Coast 4-ply- via the EYF (Edinburgh Yarn Festival).
This wool is made by 'The Border Mill' in Duns, Scotland (http://www.thebordermill.co.uk).
The colors of this collection of wool are inspired by the North Coast and named after villages, plants, flowers and POI's along the North Coast 500 route.
Peter had the brilliant idea of using all colors in a souvenir scarf and then knitting the right colour for the scarf at the location or near the object it is named after and of course taking pictures of it. The yarn has arrived in the Netherlands and now 'lives' in a cute vintage KLM-suitcase, ready to go with us on our trip.
Many of our friends indicated that they would like to follow us on Facebook, but in order to not pollute all kinds of Facebook(-knitting) groups and also not to have to email/text friends and family separate, I decided to make a travel blog for this trip.
So here it is. Our journey starts on June 5 and ends June 22 with the ferry back again to the Netherlands.
We will post pictures and stories here of our 'adventures' and of course of the progress of scarf and yarn-spots, let's see if we can find all the locations.
See you in June.
Irene (and Peter)
Kan ik mee genieten😉
